James (Jim) Eugene Bruce, aged 79, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Bruce, and his brother, Howard Bruce. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Averill of Middleville, MI, son Chad Bruce (Dana Bruce) of Atlanta, GA, and his sister Barbara Jordan of Fraser, MI. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren (Jessicah, Jennah, Jayden, and Jace), 2 great grandchildren (Madelyn and Emersyn), and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jim was a simple man that loved to golf, fish, and have coffee with his friends. Those that knew him will remember his unique ability to talk to anyone, including those he did not know, and make them feel welcome. He had a candid approach to life and provided those close to him with advice, wisdom, and life stories…all with a beaming smile that will not be forgotten. He had a unique ability to provide humor in almost any situation, always with love in his heart. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. In accordance with Jim's wishes he will be cremated and there will be no formal services following the visitation. Jim's final resting place will be near his mother and brother at Resurrection Garden of the Ascension, 18201 Clinton River Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
