Obituary

Jack Rasch of Coopersville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12th at the age of 80. Jack was the youngest of 5 children, born to Oscar and Agnus Rasch on August 5th, 1944. He grew up on his family's farm in Conklin, attended St. Joesph's catholic school from Kindergarten to 8th grade, then attended and graduated from Sparta High School. He then served 4 years in the service before returning to his family's farm. Jack decided the farm life was not for him and ventured out to explore other career options where he eventually planted his roots in the plastics trade. Jack retired from Plastics Mold Technology plant 2, a plant he helped start up, as plant manager.

Jack's way of life was a unique one, he lived life by his own rules. He had a passion for traveling, gambling (counting cards), muscle cars, and of course can't forget the occasional Michelob and Camel non filter. Though his way of life may have been frowned upon by some, attending weekly church services at St. Joe's in Wright was an even bigger passion. Jack was also passionate about helping others. There's nothing he wouldn't do for a friend or someone in need. Then there were the lucky few, his children and grandchildren, that he loved and dedicated his life to. Nothing made Jack happier than his great grandchildren.

Jack is preceded in death by his daughter, Mandy Rasch. His parents, Oscar and Agnus Rasch. His siblings, Carl (Julia) Rasch, Margaret (Irv) Miller, Dick (Marilyn) Rasch and brother-in-law Jim Wahlfield.

He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Wahlfield. Children Annie (Darin) Nickerson. Grandchildren Brett (Megan) Nickerson, Mercedes Nickerson, Dustin Demars, Nichole Nickerson, Jacklyn Yates, Devin (Sophie) Nickerson, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and even more cousins.

Burial will take place on Saturday March 22nd at 11:00 am at the St. Joesph's cemetery in Wright Township with a celebration of life in the church basement to follow. Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to West Michigan Hospice in lieu of flowers.
