Jack Teegardin, age 92, of Zeeland (formerly of Hesperia), passed away peacefully August 11, 2023. He was born in Newaygo, MI, and graduated from Newaygo High in 1948. Jack served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1954 and was stationed in Warrenton, VA. He joined Alice (McCastle) in marriage on September 9,1961.
Jack worked in the accounting department at Gerber Products Company for 40 years, retiring in 1990. During retirement, he loved to eat breakfast at his beloved Daniel's restaurant (later Hesperia House) with his friends Sam, Nancy, and Marshall. Jack also enjoyed special birthday dinners with his friends Darla and Sharra. He was a huge football fan and adored the Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines. Jack enjoyed traveling to Civil War battle sites and making an occasional trip to a casino. He was a lover of animals and contributed to many animal rescue organizations. Jack was an avid stamp collector and crossword puzzler, and fan of Everybody Loves Raymond.
Jack is survived by his son, Shawn Teegardin (Stephanie Edwards) of Holland, MI; son-in-law, William Sorensen of Kent, OH; sister, Ruth Ann Van Ess of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren: Shannon Sorensen (Carl Peterson) of Brunswick, OH; Stephanie Teegardin of Kalamazoo, MI; Bryan Sorensen of Westlake, OH; Susan Teegardin of Mecosta, MI; Amanda Sorensen (Allan Shomon) of Ravenna, OH; two great-grandchildren; and his faithful companion, Bronx, the cat. He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Alice (McCastle) Teegardin; his parents, Gerald and Helen (Race) Teegardin; sister, Betty Fisher; and daughter, Elizabeth Sorensen.
A celebration of life will be held next summer. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may donate to the Best Friends Animal Society, Kanab, UT 84741 or to a charity of their choice.
