IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack Daniel
Burnett
June 19, 1942 – October 18, 2025
Jack Daniel Burnett, known affectionately as Splinter to all who knew and loved him, embarked on his final adventure on October 18, 2025, in Michigan, his heart having lived a full and passionate life. Born on June 19, 1942, in Bald Knob, Arkansas. Jack's life was a testament to joy, laughter, and the pursuit of what truly makes a soul happy. Jack's early years in Bald Knob were filled with the adventure and humor that would become his signature.
A gifted storyteller and natural comedian, he had a knack for turning everyday events into epic tales. His humor was as infectious as his smile, and he never missed an opportunity to lighten a mood or bring laughter into a room. As Robin Williams once said, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." Jack certainly never lost his spark, and the world was all the brighter for it.
After honoring his nation by serving as a demolition specialist in the Army, stationed in Germany from 1964 to 1967, and continued his service in the Army Reserves until 1970. His dedication to his work was only matched by his dedication to his family. Jack then continued his education by graduating as a certified auto body repairman and mastering auto mechanics and electrical repair.
Jack found his greatest joys in the wilderness, whether it was hunting for deer, birds, squirrels, or rabbits, or sitting quietly by a stream, waiting for a fish to bite. His love for the outdoors was rivaled only by his passion for restoring muscle cars, particularly his prized '69 Camaro. He poured his heart and soul into that car, much like he did with everything he cherished in life.
The Burnett household was always a menagerie, reflecting Jack's love for animals. His laughter and warmth made their home a haven not just for pets, but for all who entered. Jack's daughters, Sherry and Michelle, remember their father as the man who could fix anything, from a broken toy to a bad day, with just the right words or a timely joke.
Jack leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Barbara Burnett; daughters, Sherry Nondorf and Michelle Burnett; sister, Wanda McLemore; grandchildren, Karl Brandon Brewer, Dillon Burnett, Megan Phillips, Dalton Parker, and Eli Parker; and great-grandchildren, Kainan, Mariah, Max, Makayla and Breland. He joins in heaven his grandson, Kane Reeves; his parents, Georgia Spicher and Lawrence Burnett; and his siblings, Jeannie DeGraff, Samuel Burnett, Terry Burnett, and Vickie Burnett.
Described by friends as funny, friendly, generous, caring and creative. Jack's legacy is one of laughter, love, and the reminder to take life a little less seriously. His parting has left a void that will be filled with countless stories of his adventures, his humor, and the immeasurable love he had for his family. Jack Burnett lived a life that proved every day can be filled with joy if you're willing to find it. As Jack would say, borrowing from the great Groucho Marx, "I intend to live forever, or die trying." And live forever he shall, in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
