December 4, 2013 Watterson, Irene M. (Arends), age 89 of Kentwood, was received the into the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, George; her mother, Esther; father, Bernard; step-mother, Katherine; her brother, Bernard; her sisters, Iona, Patricia; all of her brother and sister-in-laws. She will be deeply missed by her five children; George (Marylou) Watterson, Linda Deuling; Edward (Cindy) Watterson; Deborah (James) Perkins; Christine Castano. Irene was blessed to have her living siblings with her on her 89th birthday a few weeks ago; Thomas (Barbara) Arends, William (Donna) Arends; Susan (Donald) Nelson; sister-in-law Patricia Arends. Irene was a loving grandmother of 11, a great grandmother of 14 and a great-great grandmother of 3. Irene and George lovingly and generously gave so many volunteer years to their St. Mary Magdalen parish family. We are saddened that mom's service cannot be held in the new church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, December 9 at 12:00 in St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 50 Bellevue St. SW Wyoming, with a luncheon immediately following at St Mary Magdalen Family Center. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 8 from 3 to 8 p.m., in Ofield Funeral Home (4500 Kalamazoo Ave. SE), and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
