Ina M. Castillo of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 77, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, and beloved friend. She was born to Selso and Ramona Castillo on October 27, 1941 in Belen, New Mexico. She graduated from Belen High School and moved to Grand Rapids to join the Dominican Sisters at Marywood. After leaving the convent in 1969, she pursued a career in the culinary arts at the parish of St. Robert of Newminster in Ada, MI. Ina was passionate about cooking, photography, and gardening, gifts she shared generously with her family and many friends. For many years, Ina also cared for numerous children in daycare. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Joe, and is survived by her beloved dog Isabelle; lifelong friends Joe and Kathy Huffman and their children Jolene and her son Hudson, Malia, and Nicholas (Lindsey) and their daughters Josie, June, and Jacqueline; her sister-in-law Karen and her children Traci, Marc, Leighann, Brian, Alisha and their families. Ina's life will be celebrated on Friday, April 19, 2018, with a visitation at 6:00 p.m. and a service at 7:00 p.m. at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Hospice of Grand Rapids or the Kent County Humane Society.
