Ian Gene Reinink, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, born November 11, 1987, passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 38.

Ian was a country boy at heart. From the time he could walk, he loved a lifted Chevy and could appreciate a truck that was just a little bigger, louder, and tougher than it needed to be. He loved being outdoors and spending time in nature. He also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and had a soft spot for the unconditional loyalty and companionship they gave.

Ian was resilient and believed he could fix just about anything. Whether it was taking something apart, figuring out how it worked, or finding a way forward when life got difficult, Ian had a determination that was uniquely his.

More than anything, Ian wanted to have a great relationship with his children, Tyler Malanowski and Mackenzie Reinink. His love for them ran deep, and his family knows how much he wanted to be the father they deserved.

Ian loved deeply and made friends easily. It was hard not to like him. He had a personality that drew people in, and even with his flaws and the challenges he faced, there was a goodness in Ian that people could see. He had so much potential inside him, and those who loved him will always wish he had been able to overcome the difficulties that held him back and have the opportunity to live the life they knew he was capable of.

Ian will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Glenda (Karle) Reinink; his children, Tyler Malanowski and Mackenzie Reinink; his sisters, Heather Pringle and Amber Reinink; his brother, Dylan Reinink; his stepmother, Christal (Lange) Reinink; his nephews, Aydan Herrera and Jordan Garcia; and his nieces, Genevive Pringle and Ezmea Navarro.

He is also survived by his nine cousins on his mother’s side and nine cousins on his father’s side, all of whom will carry his memory with them.

On the Reinink side of his family, Ian was preceded in death, in order of loss, by Thomas Gene “Grub” Reinink his father; Janis (Ten Have) Reinink, his grandmother; Rodney Reinink, his uncle; and Terry Reinink, his grandfather.

On his mother’s side of the Karle family, Ian was preceded in death, in order of loss, by Robert Karle, his grandfather; Berdean (Karle) Brifnek , his Nana; Kathleen (Karle) Schutte his aunt; and John Brifnek, his step-grandfather, known as Papa.

Ian leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and who will remember not only the battles he faced, but the person he was beneath them—the country boy who loved his lifted Chevys, the outdoorsman who loved nature, the animal lover who especially loved dogs, the man who thought he could fix almost anything, the father who loved his children, the son and brother who was deeply loved, and the friend who made connections easily.

He will be missed more than words can say, and his memory will live on through his children, mother, siblings, stepmother, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all those who loved him.

A funeral service honoring Ian’s life will be held Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Mosaic Room at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch Street, Zeeland, Michigan 49464.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for food and fellowship at the home of Ian’s eldest sister, 161 Manley Avenue, Holland, Michigan 49424.
