Herlinda Luisa Paiz of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 70, passed away in the early morning hours of January 30, 2022. She was born to Eugene and Helen (Trujillo) Paiz, Sr on June 26, 1951.
Linda was the middle child of five children born to her family while they resided on Deloney Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a 1969 graduate of West Catholic High School where she had the opportunity to visit Mexico to learn more about her family heritage. Linda was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith.
She spent more than 17 years working for the Cathedral of St. Andrews. For about 15 years and right up until her passing, Linda was honored to teach second grade religious education classes to the children of the community. Before her time at the church, she spent 27 years working for Kent County.
She was known as a person who would do anything for anyone who needed help. She lit up the room with her bright smile. Linda loved to spend time with her grandchildren and visit with family.
Linda is survived by her mother, Helen Paiz; her two children Aubrey (Brian) Poggioli & Carlos (Sue) Gordon; her five grandchildren Gabrielle, Arina, Isaac, Brady, & Destiny; her four siblings Eugene Jr, Richard Sr, Rita, and Fred; multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and her beloved dog, Dynasty. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Paiz Sr. Her children would like to thank the family members who spent so much of their time caring for Linda in her precious final days.
There will be a funeral service for Linda at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at one of her favorite locations, the Cathedral of St. Andrews, 215 Sheldon Blvd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Fr. Steve Cron will be presiding.
