Obituary

Herbert (Herb) Joseph Brown, age 84 of Marne went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2026, surrounded by his family and his wife of 42 years, Dianna. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and attended their school in Wright Township. Later, moving only down the road, where he built a beautiful life centered around family, farming and his community.

He was a devoted husband, a caring parent, and a cherished friend. His hard work ethic, love for the outdoors and humble spirit made him a bright light in our blended family. He taught us the value of honesty, hard work, and unconditional love. The memories we shared with him are treasures that will remain in our hearts forever.

Herb was an avid motorcyclist seen around the area riding his Harley Davidson. In his earlier years, he competed in hill climbing events and racing motorcycles on the ice.

Herb enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers throughout his life and later shared his skills with his grandchildren.

Herb is survived by his beloved wife, Dianna Brown; children Laura (Jason) Fuller, Gerald (Conny) Brown, Bonnie (Rick) Hawley, William (Gail) Hawley, Dawn Hawley; his brothers Vincent (Betty), Dennis (Diane), Philip (Dorothy); sister Rosalita (Marvin) Alt; brothers and sister in-laws; grandchildren Abigail, Ayden, Cami, Bianca, Tristan, Nicole, Stefanie (Richard), Ryan (Brooklyn); three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wendelin and Antoinette (Rasch) Brown; brother Ronald; first wife MaryAnne (Rudzinski) and sister-in-law Judy Dayton.

Herb’s legacy lives on in the lessons he imparted, the kindness he showed, and his ability to fix most anything. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering commitment to his loved ones, and his ability to find joy in life’s simplest moments.

A Mass of Christian Service will be celebrated on Monday April 6, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wright where the family will receive visitors one hour before Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Corewell Hospice or St. Ann’s Home.
