Hattie Sophia (Westberg) Boyd, age 99, passed away peacefully March 5, 2016, at her home in Caledonia. She was born December 9, 1916 in Grand Rapids, the eldest daughter of Oscar and Betty Westberg. Hattie is survived by her daughters Jan (Jim) Quinlan of Caledonia and Karen Chorney of Santa Monica, California; her grandchildren, Debbie (Rick) Gaffin of Kentwood, Mary (Steve) VanDenBerge of Caledonia, Tom (Sandra) FitzGerald of Caledonia, Denise Schumaker, Christine (Christopher) Lawless, Pamela (Chris) Lewis, Paula Garcia and Jaime (Gerald) Morris all of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Michael (Shelly) Gaffin of Washington, DC, Callie VanDenBerge, Kevin VanDenBerge, Macy FitzGerald and Sam FitzGerald of Caledonia, Alex, Cameron and Michael Lewis, Bryan and Adrianna Garcia, Logan Morris, and great-great- granddaughter, Jacqueline Gaffin; nieces, nephews, relatives in Sweden, friends in Dothan, Alabama and her special caregiver, Lorie Anes.Along with her parents, Hattie was predeceased by her husband, James (Moppy) Boyd, her sons, Dennis Schumaker and Robert Schumaker, the father of her children, Ivan Schumaker, her brother, William Westberg, her sisters, Minnie Ackerman and Dorothy Horn.At her request, no memorial service will be held.
