Harvey Bert
Huyck
August 19, 1936 – April 27, 2026
Harvey B. Huyck of Galesburg, Michigan, age 89, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, April 27, 2026. He was born to James and Grace (Wright) Huyck on August 19, 1936, in Cadillac, Michigan.
Harvey was born the youngest of four children, and his mother passed away when he was very young. Later, the family grew larger with several stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Harvey married Phyllis M. Salisbury of Cadillac, Michigan, on January 21, 1956. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They raised their five boys and assisted many others with a roof over their heads in their time of need throughout Harvey and Phyllis’s journey together.
Harvey committed his life to the Lord later in life, joined Phyllis in service to the Lord, and became an active member of Galesburg Baptist Church, where he loved and served anyone he could.
Harvey enjoyed long drives in the countryside with Phyllis. He puttered around his shop, using various odds and ends to make creative curiosities that peppered his property.
The quality of life Harvey experienced in his last years was greatly sustained through the constant 24-7 care of his grandson, Joshua Huyck. The family is forever indebted to him for the love and commitment he gave his grandfather.
Harvey is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Phyllis M. Huyck (Salisbury); his loving children, Michael (Missy) Huyck, Ryan (Debbie) Huyck, Stephan (Mary) Huyck, Paul (Erica) Huyck, and Marci (Tim) Clifton. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, James Jr., and Thomas, his sister, Marcia, and his son, Timothy.
The family would like to thank Elara Caring Hospice for their care and compassion during Harvey’s passing. He truly enjoyed their care.
A private service will be held with the family and the church family.
Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make memorial contributions to the Galesburg Baptist Church, 10100 Shadowlane Ave, Galesburg, Michigan 49053.
