IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hartley Dean
Swanson
February 14, 1935 – December 30, 2019
Hunter, fisherman, craftsman, friend to all. Compassionate, caring and fun-loving. Hartley welcomed his family, his friends, and anyone else who would sit and share a story and a laugh. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a construction manager for the architectural firm, Daverman Associates, and also for the Grand Rapids Public Schools from which he retired. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Swanson, his two daughters, Vicki (Gregg) Kotsonas and Wendi (Gary) Ekborg, and their families including five grandchildren, Blake, Peter, Sam, Isabel, and Eric; his love for them grew every time he talked about them. He is also survived by his sisters Harriet (Bob) Maki and Carol (David) Delongchamp. Besides family, his lasting legacy is Kozy Kamp, a labor of love built from sweat, determination, and his desire to create a place where family and friends could all gather and share in his warmth, laughter, and love for many generations. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held Friday, January 10th at 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at Ofield Funeral Home (4500 Kalamazoo Ave. Kentwood, MI 49508). Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 11th; Brief visitation at 10:30am, Service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church (1934 52nd St. SE Kentwood, MI 49508).
