Obituary

Harry was born in Malone, New York in 1945. He was the son of the most wonderful parents, Benjamin and Irene Bregman, both deceased. He had the good luck of spending his formative years growing up in the small Northern New York town of Malone. His memories and many of the friendships of those years were sustained throughout his life! Harry was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 32 years, Paula Wooley Bregman in 2011. She brought happiness and so much laughter to his and Xan's life! He is survived by his loving son Alexander "Xan" of Kentwood, Mi., teo sisters and their husbands; Sheila and Bob Van Dyke of Pinhurst, NC; Josef and Cyd Seighart of Aventura, Fl., many nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law, Victoria Woolley of Grand Rapids. His best friends and past business partners Michael and Barb Waldschlager of Belmont, Mi. who have been such great friends and support to 'Xan" and himself!! After his college graduation, Harry was employed at Tru-Stitch Footwear in Malone, the company was a few years later acquired by Wolverine World Wide. He was later offered the opportunity to join the tean at WWW's corporate offices in Rockford, Mi. Initially, he held various positions in product and turnaround of BROOKS brand of athletic footwear after the acquisition of the brand from bankruptcy! Harry's team re-established the Brooks brand quality, technical leadership and market position. The BROOKS continues to hold a significant brand awareness with runners as one of the companies of Berkshire Hathaway. LAter Harry directed another successful business turn-around as CEO and owner of Westing Inc, a building and paint products distributor in Grand Rapids, MI. The final years of his career, he consulted and worked with other businesses in their improvement of various processes and functions. He enjoyed each opportunity, and was especially thankful for the many people that he had the pleasure of working with throughout his career. He was a longtime member of Blythefield Country Club where he served as a member of their Board and PResident. In 1992, he oversaw the major renovation of the clubhouses. Harry took pride in having won Blythefields member/member Blue Blazer Tournament 3 times. He also served as a longtime member of the Board of Directors for SOMI/Special Olympics Michigan, an association that enabled him the pleasure of meeting and working with the most wonderful giving people and athletes of his lifetime! He also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Emanuel. Harry asked that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Special Olympics Area 11 of Grand Rapids, or Temple Emanuel. Servies are pending.
