IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold (Chuck) Charles
Skinner Jr.
December 1, 1940 – October 11, 2025
Harold Charles "Chuck" Skinner Jr., a lifelong resident of Caledonia, MI, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the age of 84, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 1, 1940, in the same town he would call home for the entirety of his life, Chuck was known for his unwavering kindness, quick wit, and boundless creativity.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, of 63 years, who has been his steadfast companion in life's journey. Together, they raised a family that includes their children, Chuck (Monica) Skinner and Stacey (Dennis) Kelly, who will carry forward the legacy of love and dedication instilled in them. Chuck's joy was multiplied through his grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Skinner, Brandon (Alexandra) Skinner, Jordyn (Isaiah) Sleeman, Ashley (Tony) Delnay, and Nick (Madelynn) Kelly, and his face would light up with pride at the mention of his four great-grandchildren, with the excitement of another on the way.
A graduate of Caledonia Community Schools, Chuck went on to apply his skills as a heavy equipment operator and farmer, professions that kept him close to the earth he cherished. His work ethic was unmatched, and his influence extended through his involvement in various associations, where he was respected for both his expertise and his genuine friendships.
Chuck's passions were as rich as the soil he tended. He had an affinity for draft horses, whose strength and grace reflected his own character. Dancing was another joy for Chuck, a pastime that he and Judy enjoyed together, with friends spanning from Greenville to Nashville. Chuck also enjoyed working alongside his grandson, Nick Kelly, rebuilding and customizing golf carts.
Those who knew Chuck will remember him as a man of many virtues. Kindness was his inherent trait, touching the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His humor was a gift that he shared generously, bringing smiles to faces even on the cloudiest of days. His creativity knew no bounds, manifesting in everything he did, from identifying "whim whams for what nots for grinding smoke," to problem-solving on the farm and crafting beautiful memories with his family.
Chuck's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and hard work—a life well-lived and well-loved. As we say goodbye to Harold Charles "Chuck" Skinner Jr., we celebrate the lasting mark he has left on the hearts of his family, friends, and community. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, as we hold dear the memories and the values he has bestowed upon us.
Until we meet again, your spirit will remain a guiding light in the lives of those you've touched, and your memory will be cherished forever.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Skinner barn (4649 – 2nd St Caledonia 49316) on Sunday, October 26, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Red suspenders encouraged. Memorial Contributions may be made to Faith Hospice .
