Gwendolyn May (Green) Dexter went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the age of 87. Gwen was born on June 19, 1928, to John and Hazel (Eldridge) Green in Grand Rapids MI. She attended Creston and Godwin High Schools graduating in 1946. She loved her hours knitting afghans for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo and the many friends she met. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dale Richard Dexter Sr., son Alan Dexter, great grandson Clayton Thomas, brother Jack Green, and her sister in law Marthena Gibbs. She is survived by her children, Dale (Jackie) Dexter Jr., Patrica (Allen) Willemsen, Glen (Nancy) Dexter, Brian (Sue) Dexter, her daughter in law Lynn Dexter, and her brother, LaWayne Gibbs. Her grandchildren, Scott, and Dale (Carleen) Dexter III, Douglas (Donna) Thomas, Sherry (Rob) Schricker, David (Sheila) Thomas, Jennifer and Anthony Dexter, Chris (Rynell) and Casey (Melissa) Dexter, Ryan Mead, Brandon and Barry Dexter. 23 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 11:30 am. Service and luncheon will be held at St. Mary's Visitation Community Center, 2459 146th Ave, Byron Center MI 49315. A family burial will take place at a later date.
