IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Guadalupe Hernandez
Alejos
April 30, 1946 – April 23, 2024
Guadalupe Alejos, 77, passed away in Grand Rapids, MI on April 23, 2024. He was born in 1946 in Rio Verde, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and spent the majority of his life in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he raised his family with his wife, Lupe.
In July of 1973, Guadalupe had one of the first kidney transplants in Grand Rapids. He lived every day as a fighter for life, defying medical odds. After obtaining his associate's degree in accounting, Lupe worked for the State of Michigan as an Assistant Payment Case Worker for over 25 years.
Guadalupe was a devout Catholic, keeping his promise to his wife to attend church every Sunday. He nurtured his family with a strong foundation of love, trust, and stability. Guadalupe enjoyed spending time with family, playing checkers or Skip-Bo, going to the movie theater, and roller coasters at any theme park. Forever a busybody, you would often catch him outside in the yard, his shed, or the garage working on something. If it needed a solution, Guadalupe would fix it.
Guadalupe is now reunited with his parents: Felix and Francisca Alejos; four of his siblings; and his beloved cat, Sugar. He is survived by his wife, Lupe; his three children; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his five remaining siblings.
