Gregory Dean Long, age 65, of Kentwood, Michigan died on February 10, 2025. He was predeceased by his mother, Yvonne J. (Vonnie) Garde, his father, Richard B. Long Sr., and his step father, William J. Garde. Gregory is survived by his brother, Richard B. Long Jr. of Kentwood, MI, his step sister, Julie Rosier of Ada, MI, his step mother, Mary Lou Long of Grand Rapids, MI, his former sister in law, Teresa Long of Jacksonville, FL, his nieces (Richard B Long Jr. and Teresa Long's children) Brooke Long of Jacksonville, FL, Sydney Long of Lowell, MI, and Kali Long of Burnt Ranch, CA, and his grandnephews (Brooke Long's children) Dylan Mason, Oliver Mason, and Silas Mason.

Gregory was born in Grand Rapids, MI on November 20, 1959. He attended Kentwood High School. Gregory served in the United States Army. After receiving an Honorable Discharge with Physical Disability, Gregory returned to live in Michigan. He worked in warehousing at Spring Air Mattress in Grand Rapids, MI and later in machinist and manufacturing positions at Paladin Industries in Kentwood, MI. Gregory retired early on disability. He was never married, and did not have any children of his own. The vehicle he remembered fondly from his younger years was his powerful 1970 white with black stripes Chevy Nova.

Through the years Gregory always loved showing compassion and kindness to the dogs he owned, as well as to the multiple neighborhood cats he fed and watched out for.

Gregory's family expresses thanks to Ofield Funeral Home for their attention to detail and compassionate assistance after Gregory's passing. In accordance with Gregory's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a funeral. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Kentwood, Michigan.
