Grant Lawrence Lynn, age 71, of Grandville passed away peacefully on September 5, 2018. He is survived by Kate, his wife of 37 years, his siblings; Gene and Beverly Lynn, Judy Pacheco, Dan and Donna Lynn, his in-laws; Jim and Judy Whalen, Ellen Patty Kasperlik; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of treasured friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Norval and Camilla Lynn, brother Kendall Lynn and sister Doris Albers. Grant graduated from Michigan State University, worked in the field of computer science, owned his own software company, Riverview Software, and was employed at various firms in the Grand Rapids area. For most of his life Grant volunteered his time for many causes, including Switchboard, Drug Help Flying Squad, Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity board of directors, and was an active member of Fountain Street Church. Grant loved the outdoors and was an avid canoeist and built a canoe with a friend. He served in the army during the Vietnam War. He was known for his wit, cheerful disposition despite adversity, and loyalty to friends and family. He was committed to making the world a better place for all. A celebration of Grant's life will be at Fountain Street Church Saturday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Habitat for Humanity of Kent County, 425 Pleasant Street SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. It was Grant's dream to contribute enough to build a complete house for Habitat. Donations will help him fulfill his wish.
