Obituary

Glenn Schuemann, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday September 21st, 2022 at Trillium Woods Hospice in Byron Center, Michigan. Glenn was born on March 11th, 1954 in Evanston, Illinois, the youngest of three children by Henry and Helen Schuemann. Glenn spent the first half of his life in the Chicago Metro area where he grew up, went to school and eventually worked his way up from the mailroom at Volkswagen to a regional District Parts Manager, working directly with dealerships across the Midwest. This job took him and his family to Plainfield, Indiana for several years and eventually to Holland, Michigan, where he raised his three sons. Glenn continued to work in management in the automotive industry until he retired in Wyoming, Michigan. He called West Michigan home for decades and dedicated his life to his sons, his family, and the people that meant the most to him, all the while continuing his passion for coaching and supporting local athletics.

He is survived by his long time partner and the enthusiastically admitted "love of his life", Leona Sandusky. In addition to Leona, Glenn is survived by his three sons, Eric (Fiance Leah) Schuemann of Allendale, Michigan, Dustin (Heather) Schuemann of Wake Forest, NC, and Wade Schuemann of Holland, MI, his brother Douglas (Susan) Schuemann of Placida, FL Jane (Bernie) Boryc of Madison, WI, his nephew Jeffrey (Lauren) Boryc of Sugar Grove, Il, and two nieces, Alissa (David) Tyrolt of Mount Zion, Il and Kathryn (Kirk) Smock of Madison, WI. Glenn was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Henry Schuemann.

He is truly cherished by those who had the opportunity to know him, and his loss is palpable. For those that want to celebrate Glenn, a brief visitation and memorial service will be held at Ofield Funeral home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508 at 4 pm on October 18th, 2022.
