Gerry Lea Raymer passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 28th 2019 while surrounded by her loving family and she will be passionately missed. She was diagnosed with ALS in May of 2018. She showed no fear and named her disease "Alice." Determined not to let it beat her, she never lost her light, her humanity, nor her spirit. "Happy Trails", "Peace", and "Love You More" were among her favorite salutations. She was a dedicated school teacher in the Grand Rapids Public School system. She had a rich, full, happy life with great lifelong friends and gave her all to the ones she loved. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Erskine, mother, Betty (Erskine) Drenning, and son, Michael Raymer. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas Raymer; sons, James (Judith) Raymer and David (Sarah) Raymer; daughter, Danielle (William) Baxter; grandchildren, Joshua, Beverly, Phoenix, and Santiago; sisters, Judy Lawton and Janelle (Michael) Shields; and sister-in-law, Kate (Raymer) Kenard. There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony held at 11:00 am on January 11th 2020 at Inspire Church, 918 Garden Ave in Fremont MI. The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the ceremony from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gerry's name to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation.
