Geraldine "Gerry" May Thoms (nee Kelley) (85) of Sand Lake, Michigan passed away at home surrounded by her family on December 19, 2024.

Gerry was born November 3, 1939 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She was the only daughter of the late Floyd P. Kelley and the late Amanda "Leona" Kelley (nee Bechtel).  Gerry was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School in 1958 where she played intramural volleyball and participated in the co-op program starting her banking/bookkeeping career at Industrial State Bank.   She met her husband, the late Earl K. Thoms, Jr. in high school.  They were married for over 62 years until his passing in January of 2022.

Gerry was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor.  When her children were young, she volunteered for everything at their school, including being President of the PTA.  Gerry was known for her baking.  There was always a homemade treat available in her kitchen.  She greatly enjoyed bringing cookies to the weekly Ensley Silver Bullets gatherings.  Gerry was frequently on her iPad viewing Facebook and using Messenger to keep up with family and friends. When she was younger, she enjoyed traveling.  She especially enjoyed her trips to Ireland.

Gerry is survived by her children; Sharon McEvoy (David), Dave Thoms (Jamie) and Angela Ullmer (Tim); Grandchildren, Aurora Kjoller, Andrea Spigelmoyer, Katelyn Reed (Shane), Heather Mallo (Daniel), Stephanie Smith (Ben), Drew Ullmer (Angelle), Samantha Thoms (Roman Fridline), Ashley Thoms, Kelly McEvoy and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her half-brother Donald "Bud" Bechtel and her husband Earl K. Thoms, Jr.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be Saturday, March 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, Michigan 49508.
