January 14, 2012 Service: January 17, 2012 Geraldine D. Gromko, age 72, of Kentwood, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Doris Bates. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, special family friend, Willie Diaz. She is also survived by her three grandsons, Michael (Stephanie), Chad (Melissa Mackus) and Tristan (Kelly Klida) and three great grandchildren, the apple of her eye, Brooklyn, Skyler and Gavin and a sister in law, Joyce Mayfield. Gerry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with family and friends as well as sewing, baking, fishing and traveling. Gerry retired from the Kelloggsville School District where she was the secretary for 30 years. Her passion for children spilled into the Warm A Heart program which provides children with winter coats. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17 at 1pm in the Ofield Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive family and friends Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm and Tuesday 12-1pm. The family suggests in lieu of flower contributions be made to the Warm A Heart program.
