Gerald Lee Markham, 62, of Newaygo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1963, to Jerry and Judy (Hannah) Markham.
Gerald, commonly known as Barry, was a doting and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His remarkable love, kind demeanor, and adoration of nature made a strong impact on all who knew him. Gerald flourished through spending his free time gardening and watching the wild animals who would visit that same garden. His adoration for Harley Davidson and his love to ride harnessed his carefree spirit.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 14 years, Deanna Markham. His children; Jennifer Markham and Chelsea (David) Sevarns. Stepchildren; Charles Koewers, Timothy Koewers, and Andrew (Ashley) Koewers. Parents; Jerry and Judy (Hannah) Markham. Brother; Fred Markham. Grandchildren; Isaac Nurmi, Ariahna Sevarns, Bentley Sevarns, Emalynn Sevarns, David Jr. Sevarns, and Cooper Sevarns. Along with a plentiful of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Gerald is preceded in death by his Grandpa Oren Markham and Grandma Thelma (Sipples) Markham, his Grandpa Fred Markham and Grandma Charlotte Hannah, Uncle Dan Hannah, Aunt Carol Miller, brothers Bob Markham and Terry Markham, cousin Steven Miller, and beloved dogs Harley and Meeka.
According to Geralds' wishes, cremation will take place, and no formal services will be held. The family is asking to plant a tree in remembrance.
