George Tyler Piper, 93, passed away on Monday, December 18th, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, MI. George was born on August 12th, 1924, in Scotts, MI to the late Harland and Lula (Tyler) Piper. He served two tours in the US Army. He served in Japan as a peacekeeper from Jan.28, 1949 to Feb. 23, 1950 and in the Korean War from Oct. 9, 1950 to Sept. 21, 1951. He was a dairy farmer in Scotts his entire life until he retired in 1994. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Corinne Esther Piper. He is survived by three siblings; Garth Piper of Galesburg, Ione Coburn of Kalamazoo and Marilyn (Pete) Oswalt of Fulton: three sons; John (Brenda) Jones of Climax, Robert (Sandy) Jones of Vicksburg, Thomas (Tetyana) Jones of Scotts; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Fort Custer National Cemetery (15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012). Family will receive friends at the Scotts Community Center (8450 36th St. Scotts MI 49088) for a luncheon from 3-5 PM. Interment of cremains will be for family at the Harrison Cemetery.
