On the morning of July 8th, 2019 Gary Wallace Stewart passed at the age of 65. Gary was born to Norman Stewart and Caroline Aleshire on August 24th, 1953 in Mason, MI. He attended and graduated from Mason High School. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corp. Upon returning from the Marines he married Vickie Smalley of Williamston, MI. They had two sons together Derek and Ryan. He worked for Baker Furniture in Holland, MI for many years and continued working in the furniture industry until he retired. Gary was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman. In his youth he played basketball, baseball, and football while attending Mason High School. Along with playing sports he enjoyed hunting and fishing particularly raccoon hunting with hounds even into his later years in life. Gary is preceded in death by his father Norman Stewart and step-father Vern Aleshire. He is survived by his mother, Carolina Aleshire; his four brothers, Rich Stewart and his wife Judy Stewart of Mason, MI, Norman Stewart and his wife Kim Stewart of Mason, MI, Brian Stewart and his wife Linda Stewart of Ionia, MI, Micheal Stewart of Fennville, MI; his two sons Derek Stewart and his wife Jessica Stewart of Mason, MI; Ryan Stewart of Lake Charles, LA; his five grandchildren and several nieces, and nephews. A private graveside ceremony will be held with immediate family August 3. A time for friends and family to remember Gary will be held August 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mason VFW (1243 Hull Rd, Mason, MI 48854)
