Gary Thomas Paul, known affectionately as Gary to friends and family, passed away at the age of 81 on April 10, 2025, in Grand Rapids, MI, due to heart failure. Born on August 29, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, Gary carried the spirit of his birthplace with him throughout his life, embodying the city's hardworking and resilient nature.

After earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA, Gary dedicated his career to improving workplace environments as a Consultant for Employee Relations. His passion for fair and just employee treatment made a significant impact on numerous organizations and the lives of countless individuals.

Gary's personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional one. He met the love of his life, Karen, and together they shared a bond that was a testament to true partnership and mutual respect. Though she preceded him in death, their love story remains a guiding light to those who knew them.

Gary's sense of family extended to his brothers, Ralph and Tim Paul, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. His sister-in-law, Susan Paul, was not only a relative but a dear friend. His niece and nephew, Katey and Josh Holthus, brought immeasurable joy to his life, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. Gary took particular delight in his role as a great-uncle to James Holthus, whose youthful exuberance and laughter were sources of endless happiness for him.

A man of many interests, Gary was an avid golfer who could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game and the camaraderie of fellow golf enthusiasts. He also had a deep appreciation for music and was a regular attendee of the Grand Rapids Symphony, where he reveled in the beauty and complexity of classical compositions.

Those who knew Gary would describe him as generous, kind, and passionate. He gave freely of his time and resources, always willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. His kindness was not a mere act but a deeply ingrained part of who he was. Gary's passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his career to his leisure activities, and it was this passion that inspired others to live life to the fullest. Gary was an avid volunteer with First Tee - West Michigan as well as the Boys and Girls Club of Grand Rapids.

Gary's legacy is one of love, dedication, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His gentle spirit and generous heart have left an indelible mark on the world, and his memory will continue to be celebrated by those who were fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
