Gary Micheal Curtis, of Newaygo MI, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 81 on September 20, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was married to the love of his life Kathy, for 55 years.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his two children, Mike Curtis (Shelly Curtis) and Jennifer Curtis. His sister Evy. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother-in laws and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Curtis (Lil Curtis) and Mary Gobert. His brothers Ralph and Al. His sisters Rosalee, MaryAnn and Sue.

After highschool, Gary joined the US Navy and served aboard the USS Haleakala as a Boiler Operator. After serving in the military, Gary returned to Michigan and met Kathy.

Gary worked at a local fuel station before transitioning into the car sales business. This love of buying and selling vehicles would remain near to Gary for his entire life. Gary eventually purchased a semi truck and worked alongside his brothers and nephew, Paul Curtis, in the trucking industry for many years.

Gary loved playing cards with friends and family. He enjoyed rummy, but his passion was poker. You could always count on his poker jar being close to the dining room table. He loved going to deer camp. He might not go sit in the woods, but he would keep the woodstove full and the card table ready for action!

Gary "Grandpa" Curtis' memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. We will remember him around the dinner table, at deer camp, driving by Diamond and Ryerson Lake or just complaining about the cost of fuel.
