10/20/1927 - 4/25/2017 Grand Rapids - Garth Murray Gordon, 89, of Grand Rapids passed away April 25th, 2017 at the Christian Rest Home. Garth was born on October 20, 1927 in Sand Lake, son of the late Fay and Cora Gordon. Garth attended and graduated from Cedar Springs High School and later received an associate's degree from Davenport Business College. In 1950, Garth married his high school sweetheart Eva Marie Thompson. He worked as an inspector for the automotive industry for Grand Rapids Metalcraft. While his life was marked by multiple health issues, he always got great joy from helping others. Garth is survived by wife Eva, sons James and Robert (Sjana), daughter Sharon (Travis) Weeks, grandchildren Heather and Kelly Weeks and Jason (Jodi) Neilsen, brother-in-law Clif Snyder, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Kenneth, Donald, Raymond, and Fay; and sister Lillian. We would like to thank all of the wonderful neighbors and the staff at the Christian Rest Home for helping care for Garth. Cremation has taken place and the family will receive visitors between 12-1 pm with a memorial service to follow at 1 pm on Friday April 28th at the Faith United Methodist Church located at 2600 7th St NW, Grand Rapids. Memorial contributions in Garth's name may be directed to the Faith United Methodist Church or a charity of one's choice . Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery
