Gage Russell Gray
March 7, 1991 - June 24, 2022
Gage Russell Gray passed away on Friday June 24, 2022. He will be profoundly missed by his mother, Sandra Blackwell; brothers CJ Blackwell (Shaunna) and Jude Gray; his aunts and uncles Estelle Slootmaker (Eddie), Larry Hose (Cathy), Robert Gray, Jeri Boyer, and Anson Gray Jr. (Maryjo); cousins Andrew Davis (Kristina), Eddie Davis (Hannan), Rob Davis (Jenny), Lauren Davis (Alyson), Caitlin Jensen (Nick), Jake Gray (Ashlie), Jesse Gray, Shelby Gray, Wyatt Gray and Kevin Tammens (Amanda). Gage was preceded in death by his father, Russel Gray, his loving grandparents, Boyce and Elizabeth Slootmaker and Anson and Anne Gray, and his brother, Luke Gray.
Gage was blessed with high intelligence, a fun sense of humor, and a big heart. Gage was a student of history. From a young age, he loved reading about World War I and II and discussing his interpretations of the great military minds. In every job he held, he was well liked by his supervisors and coworkers. A charming conversationalist, Gage had a kind heart and a sparkle that made it easy for others to relate to him. He loved to make people laugh. Gage's friends describe him as always being there for them. For fun, Gage loved a day at Cedar Point with his mom riding The Magnum. His favorite movies were Hook, Big Trouble in Little China, and Zombieland.
Cremation took place July 12. Gage's ashes will be buried between his Grandpa Boyce and Grandma Liz at Grandville Cemetery. A memorial service and luncheon will be held 2 p.m. Thursday July 28, 2022, at Wyoming Moose Lodge, 2630 Burlingame Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49509.
When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly
I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain
I'm gonna walk with my grandaddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I've missed him
Every minute since he left
And then I'll hug his neck
So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
And so much work to do
But when I get where I'm going
And I see my Maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace
Yeah, when I get where I'm going
Oh, when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will love and have no fear
