IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank Edward
Mccoy
January 29, 1943 – February 8, 2018
Frank Edward McCoy was born in Benton Harbor, MI to the union of Jessie and Cornelia McCoy. He was the sixth, of nine children, born to this union. Frank attended elementary school in Benton Harbor before moving to Grand Rapids, MI, where he continued his education at South High School. Plumbing and Construction were Frank's forte. Frank spent his career working as a plumber and construction worker with numerous companies in both Michigan and Illinois. Many of these positions were spent working alongside his brothers William McCoy Sr. and Robert McCoy Sr. You may be surprised to know that Frank worked on the construction of the Sears Tower in Chicago, Illinois. Frank spent the later years of his life as a self-employed plumber and general laborer. Many friends and family could always count on "Mr. Frank" whenever there was a household plumbing emergency. In his spare time, Frank was an avid outdoorsman! He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He shared these special skills with his nephews Carl Roscoe Sr., Lacey McCoy Jr., James "Mack" McCoy and Jeffery McCoy. Every November, Frank could be found in the woods hunting wild game and his summers were spent fishing in his secret watering holes. Frank accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, early in life, and later renewed this faith. Frank departed this life on February 8, 2018 at Metron Rehabilitation Center, after a long battle with numerous health issues. Frank was preceded in death by sisters, Willie Lee Hopkins, Shirley Roscoe, and Sharon Thomas. Brothers: Earnest McCoy, Lacey McCoy Sr., Robert McCoy Sr. and Richard McCoy Sr. He is survived by daughters Mia Austin of Grand Rapids; Carolyn (Kevin) Olgesby of Orange County, CA; Sister Doris Berry of Grand Rapids, MI and Brother William McCoy Sr. of Stevensville, MI; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be Saturday, February 24 at Ofield Funeral Home (4500 Kalamazoo Ave in Kentwood). Visitation will be from 10-11 AM. A Homecoming Service will be at 11 AM.
