IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank David
Giltner
March 4, 1935 – December 4, 2016
Obituary for (Frank) David Giltner It has been such a privilege to walk this earth with our son, husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend, (Frank) David Giltner. Dave was born on March 4th, 1935 to Paulina (Morris) and Lynn Giltner at home, a log cabin located near Paynesville in Jefferson county, Indiana. He was the oldest of four children including his brothers Dale (Stella), Jimmie (Diana), and sister Bonnie (Dan Everts.) In 1955 Dave married Anita Hunger. Together they had four children: Marcia (Tom Good), Jon (Beth), Elizabeth (Dan Lynn) and James (Meredith). Their family grew to include nine grandchildren: David, Jordan, Nathan, Katie, Lydia, Aaron, Jesse, Hana and Dorian, plus six great grandchildren: Casey, Olivia, James, Nico, Emilio, and Claire. Dave is preceded in death by his father Lynn, brother Dale, and sister-in-law Stella. Dave was a farmer, factory worker, courier, and a woodworker and fisherman when he had time. He loved and supported his wife Anita for their whole life, and together they joyfully raised a happy, loving, growing family. Dave died on Sunday morning, December 4th, 2016. One of his grandsons wrote a tribute after his death describing well the man we knew and loved: "He taught me how to fish when I was a kid. A couple weeks ago, while he was in home hospice, he even gave me a woodworking lesson. My Grandpa didn't speak much, and I learned from that too. He would listen, think, laugh, and enjoy the people around him. He would cry when he heard his kids or grandkids play music. When he did choose to talk, we all listened - he usually said something hilarious or something very smart. For my whole life, he has seemed like a man at peace, happy seeing his family grow around him." A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 1:00 pm at the Douglas Congregational United Church of Christ located at 56 West Wall St. Douglas, MI 49406. Rev. Salvatore Sapienza will preside. Lunch will follow. All are welcome to come celebrate Dave's life. In lieu of flowers Dave asked that donations be made to Spectrum Health Hospice, who provided great care for which he was grateful.
