IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances H.
Mccartney
April 10, 1932 – November 2, 2019
Frances H. McCartney of Kalamazoo MI., passed peacefully into Spirit, surrounded by her family, on November 2, 2019. Fran was born April 10, 1932 in Muskegon. She is survived by her beloved daughters Linda Sandin, Michelle Valkema (Al) Lisa McCartney (Liz), Patti Ludvig-McCartney (Gy), and Julie Wdowicki (Gary); stepchildren Sheri Godsey Johnsen (Dave), and Michael Godsey (Barbara). She fiercely loved her grandchildren Sarah (Jayson) Mansfield, Ryan Myers, and Nick (Jessica) Myers; Alex (Corina) and Lucas (Claire) Valkema, and Eric Wdowicki; step-grandchildren ?Allysa, Andrew, Samantha, and Brett; and ?her precious great-grandson Ayedenn; as well as a myriad of well-loved grandcritters. She is also survived by her dear sister Alice (Bud) Mosier; cousins and travel buddies Don and Lorraine (Sis-Miers-Wilson) and a host of extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved William "Ashley" McCartney, dearest Richard "Yo" Godsey, son Donald "Donnie" Sandin, step-grandson Brandon Stapper, and critters Spooky, CoCo, and Snitty. She doted on her kitties Mackie and Foo, who were a source of entertainment and companionship these last few years. Fran was an accomplished roller skater who loved her purple-tinged 'Betty bouffant" hairstyle, and pink foil lipstick. She may or may not have been a showgirl on the Milwaukee Clipper prior to her decades-long employment at Bronson Hospital. She possessed a keen sense of style, sharp wit and an amazing memory. She had a penchant for giving everyone the perfect nicknames and a desire to make certain her grandchildren wore the warmest slippers. At the age that most folks would be hanging things up for good, Fran began working at Curves, and took up playing harmonica and the bongo drums. Always the hostess with the mostest, she was throwing dinner parties up until just a few weeks before she passed. Fran never met a stranger and had a diverse and lively group of friends. She would often regale us with tales of the fun that she and dad shared with dear friends Jody, Bill, Mark, Rod, Pam, Larry, and so many others. Whether you knew her as Frances, Fran, Francine, Flan, Henrietta, Tikey Ploughman, Tike, Granny Franny, Grandy, Grandma, Grandma Fro, Gma, mother, or mom, please know that she loved you and was so grateful for the love and laughter you undoubtedly shared. As Fran would often say when she was done, "Tookus-and-a-Binkus!", or "WyOhPoeWaba!". Please join us for a celebration of Fran's life at Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Southwest Michigan, 10441 Shaver Rd., Portage, MI 49024, from 1:00 pm - 04:00 pm on Sunday, November 17, 2019. If you would like to send flowers, please send them to the church prior to the service.
