Floyd Wayne Reid, age 84, of Kentwood, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 20, 2022, at his home, after a long, hard fight against liver and pancreatic cancer. His son, Mark Wayne Reid and daughter, Merret Lynn Reid were by his side.

Floyd was born on July 15, 1938 in Gardiner, Montana to Wayne and Ethel (Tempro) Reid.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. Floyd worked for the Federal Aviation Agency for over three decades. After his retirement from the FAA, Floyd worked for first Raytheon and then Parsons as a supervisor in the process of building air traffic control towers all over the country. He loved to travel and visited all of the fifty states during his lifetime. He also loved the water and enjoyed boating on all of the beautiful lakes in Michigan. He enjoyed music and spent many happy hours playing his guitars and listening to other guitarists. Most of all, Floyd loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with them at his home and on outings with his sailboat.

Floyd will be dearly missed by his son, Mark Reid; daughter, Merrett Reid; daughter-in-law, Vivian Bardwell; eight cherished grandchildren: Brett Mankel, Michaelyn Mankel, Michelle Ann Harris-Reid, Blake Reid, Makenzie Reid, Jessica Reid, Benjamin Reid, and Michelle Angelina Reid; and brothers: David Reid and Ray (Marge) Reid.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, David Garnet Reid, as well as his best friend and wife of fifty years, Dorothy Genieva Reid.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, with Pastor Sean Kidd officiating. A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest along side his loving wife at Graceland Memorial Cemetery, 4341 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids. Service Details. Visitation
