Kalamazoo, Michigan — With heavy hearts, the family of Florentino Ernest Charo announces his passing on October 2, 2025, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 27, 1962, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and grew up in Bay City, Michigan, where he formed the strong family bonds and lifelong friendships that remained central throughout his life.

Florentino was the proud father of Florentino Jr., Vicente, Juan, and Allegra, and a deeply loving grandfather to Kaia, who was his greatest joy. His children and granddaughter were his heart, and he dedicated his life to being a source of love, guidance, and strength for them.

He is also survived by his siblings: Mikey, Danny (Lori), Rose (Derrick), and Teresa (John), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who will carry his memory forward. Florentino was preceded in death by his father Refugio Charo, his mother Florentina Charo, his brother Rey Charo, and his nephew Hollywood Charo.

Florentino's life was enriched by the things he loved. He enjoyed singing, cooking, and spending time with family, and he had a passion for old cars, rebuilding them with care, riding motorcycles, and watching football with his family. Above all, he treasured time with his granddaughter Kaia, who brought light and laughter to his days.

He will be remembered as a man of warmth, humor, and generosity — someone who lived with resilience, gave freely of himself, and always made those around him feel welcome.

In accordance with Florentino's wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the local animal shelter, a cause that reflects his love for kindness and care.

Though his time with us was far too brief, Florentino leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
