IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evon Kathleen
Akers
August 1, 1953 – November 15, 2021
Evon Kathleen Akers, 68, of Lowell, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on November 13, 2021.
Mom was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on August 1, 1953, the daughter of Benjamin and Nora Vane (Haight). She had recently moved back home to Michigan in August 2021, after having lived in Alabama for 25 years. The three months she spent here in Michigan were full of many cherished memories. She was surrounded by love and laughter, as she spent her days with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom will be remembered as a woman who was never afraid to speak her mind, but who also loved with all of her heart. She was sentimental, witty, and strong, and her down-home cooking couldn't be beat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers Preston L. Vane, and Larry L. Karasiewicz.
Mom is survived by her daughter, Melissa Allen, of Lowell, MI.; her son, Michael (Amanda) Bitson, of Byron Center, MI.; her eight grandchildren, William (Eva) Allen of North Carolina; Hayley Allen (Adam Hopaluk), of Greenville, MI.; Keenan Allen (Briahna Casarez), of Lowell, MI.; Alyssa Allen, of Lowell, MI.; Kayla Bitson, of Tulsa, OK.; and Gianna Desgranges, Paige Bitson, and Zechariah Bitson, of Byron Center, MI., along with six great-grandchildren - Sophia, Julieanne, Jameson, Kaiden, Kolton, and Brielle. She also leaves behind six brothers and sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Evon's life will be held in the spring of 2022 - details forthcoming. Arrangements by Ofield Funeral Home in Kentwood.
