Evelyn De la Cruz Velez, age 46, of Grand Rapids, Michigan entered into the arms of her savior, on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Born on June 16, 1978, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Evelyn became a teacher at the age of 23 in the Dominican Republic, as an educator she was beloved by her students often considered their favorite teacher. Although she was unable to continue her passion in the United States she applied her vast knowledge of teaching to her children.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Miguel Nolasco with whom she spent 20 years of her life, her children Miguel Jr., Laetitia, Annie, Connie, and Zoey Nolasco; her mother Maria Antigua Velez Rosario, her sisters Arelis, Myra, Tania, Celeste, and friends.

Evelyn's life revolved around her family; she took pride in applying her life experiences to raising her children. From using her teaching knowledge to her experiences working in her mother's diner, Evelyn had a vast knowledge in a variety of fields which she passed on to her children.

Evelyn was extremely resilient; despite the cancer diagnosis she fought valiantly allowing her to have more time with her family and friends. Despite the grimness of it all she still managed to find many support groups where she formed several lasting friendships. Although she was taken from us much too soon, all those who know her are proud of how she fought so valiantly.

A brief visitation will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Ofield Funeral Home - 4500 Kalamazoo Grand Rapids, Michigan, with the funeral 12:30; graveside for immediate family only.
