Obituary

Evelyn Jean Schultz Boice, age 72, of Shelbyville, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2020, from long-term health issues that were not related to COVID-19. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in 1948, to William and Bernice Schultz of Coopersville, Michigan. Evelyn graduated from Coopersville High School in 1966. She married Richard Boice in 1969, and they had five lovely daughters, who all inherited her creativity, love of cats, and her dry sense of humor.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Richard of 51 years, and her daughters Valerie Seward, Jennifer Boice, Rebecca (Steven) Wisniewski, Wendy (Mark) McDaniel and Racheal (Jacob) Clevenger, and by her stepson Richard (Kathleen) Boice. She had 12 grandchildren: Emily Boice, Samantha and Ian Clevenger, Love, Joy, Harmony, Patience and Steven Wisniewski, Tyler and Grace McDaniel, and Charlotte and Benjamin Seward, and by two overweight cats, Cali and Hobbes. She is also survived by her brothers William (Sandra), Garey (Joyce), Ronald (Nancy) and Dennis Schultz (Linda), and by her sister Connie Schultz (Matthew).

She loved road trips, reading, sewing, and macaroni and cheese. She would stop at every garage sale she could. She would not only examine every item for sale, but would also have a long conversation with her newfound friend, while her kids waited in the car.

Her cookies were always burned on the bottom, but she was known for her peanut brittle, her goulash, rhubarb cake and striped jello. She was a good listener, crocheted many afghans, and understood the value of long goodbyes.

You explored new roads, when you rode with Evelyn. "Let's see where this road goes," was the opening line for many memorable adventures. She was proud of the fact that she taught all five of her daughters how to drive, even if some of them ended up driving like their dad.

Her sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who truly knew her, and we will never forget Rule #1!

Funeral services will take place online, on Saturday, December 12 at 3:00 pm via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4942046756?pwd=UXFSQWtzcVRUVXVucE05NDlISWdBZz09
