Ethel Mae
Schrauben
July 23, 1932 – March 25, 2021
Ethel Mae Schrauben of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021.
She was born to the late Ernest Lovellette and Robertine Bible, July 23, 1932, in Vincennes, Indiana and had one brother.
She married the late John E. Goss in 1948 and together they raised three surviving children: John Goss (Peggy) of Buffalo, WY; Janet (Tom) Navarro of Dorr, MI; and Cindy Buist-Pate of Grand Rapids, MI.
Ethel's grandchildren were the highlight of her life and she looked forward to holding grandson, Breton Edward, again in heaven. She is survived by her grandchildren: Mark (Taya) Goss; Shannon (Chris) Barry; Gary (Edna) Goss; Jennifer (Shawn) DeVries; Christopher (Alainna) Bellgraph; Jason (Emily) Corwin; and Kyle (Heather) Buist. She was also blessed with several great and great-great grandchildren to love "a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."
Ethel had many special friends that she loved dearly and enjoyed being with. She enjoyed playing BINGO and the dice game "chicken," painting, coloring, jigsaw puzzles and especially, scratch-off lottery tickets. In her younger years, she liked to garden, fish and mushroom hunt. Ethel also liked to cook and was well-known for her homemade noodles.
The family would like to thank Spectrum Health Rehab and Nursing Center as well as Spectrum Health Hospice & Palliative Care for the gentle and loving care they provided. Ethel's wish was for cremation and no funeral service.
