Betty has gone home to heaven to be with many dear friends and beloved family members who went ahead of her. If there is a kitchen in heaven, we imagine she is cooking up a big gathering, a potluck, a spaghetti dinner, or a Wii bowling tourney. She will be missed by her sons Corey (Laura), Scott, and Sean as well as her grandchildren, Cameron, Hailey, Jacob, Madison, and Jackson. From the moment they were born, she had a devotion to her grandchildren, and her favorite times were probably those she spent with them- especially if they could all be together. Betty hails from Massachusetts, and spent most of her life there within miles of her large family. Of course, even when she had a tiny apartment, she insisted on hosting huge family dinners at the holidays. She loved all her siblings, and is survived by MaryAnn, Judy, Joey, John and Jamie. In recent years, having moved to Michigan, she found a place to live that was full of wonderful friends who made her feel special and appreciated. She was constantly trying to organize the next big social activity in the community. She had a real zest and a zeal for this new home because of the relationships she made there. Betty also made a new home at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, where she was active. She signed up for nearly every possible opportunity to cook for church functions, and loved being a part of this vibrant group of people. She talked often of her enthusiasm for these activities and the people with whom she shared them. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Betty's name to Kids Food Basket or The American Cancer Society. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 10 at St, Mary Magdalen Church (1253 52nd St SE, Kentwood, MI 49508). Visitation will be from 10-11 AM and the Service will begin at 11:00 AM.
