Elaine L. Peterson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

She was born to Eugene and Alice Schantz on December 30, 1942.

Elaine was born the youngest of two children and was a graduate of Kelloggsville High School and Davenport College.

She loved being with her family, doing puzzles, and gardening in her younger years and loved to laugh and nurture her relationships with friends and family.

Elaine had a career in banking and was a supervisor at Old Kent Bank Data Processing Center for many years where she was a well-respected leader and known for her expertise in the banking system.

Elaine is survived by her children; Kimari Green and husband Craig, Jon Peterson and wife Holly, Loren Peterson and wife Kate, and grandchildren; Joe Green and wife Annesa, Alexis Peterson, Leah Green, Emilee Peterson, Bretton Peterson, Jayse Peterson, Corbin Peterson, Reese Peterson; and great-grandchildren; Vayla Green and Julian Green.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Peterson, her parents, and brother, Larry Schantz.

The family would like to thank Commonwealth Assisted Living and Faith Hospice for their compassionate care in the last few months of her life.

There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood Michigan 49508. The Memorial Service for Elaine will be celebrated from 6:00 to 7:00 pm with Pastor Mick Veach presiding.
