Edward Swanson, 75, of Kentwood, passed away Sunday, July 12. He was born in Crescent, Oklahoma, and moved to Grand Rapids in the late 1970's where he began his own traffic firm "Ed Swanson Associates". He was preceded by his wife Barb and his parents. Ed is survived by his wife Sandy, his children Russ Swanson (Tim and Samantha and Dan, Destiny, and Lucas and David Collins) Sue and Rick Helderop (Brandon and Chelsie), Dee Ann and Dave Abel (Jake), Celina and Jeff McClaran (Amber, Krista, and Todd), Mark and Lisa Swanson (Kara), Mike and Kelly Martinson (Hazel), Eric and Kim Hyde (Foster and Madeline), Brian and Jen Hyde (Emma and Alex) and Kevin and Amelia Hyde (Faith and Farrah), sister Ella Mae and Bob Broyles and brother Richard and Marilyn Swanson, sisters-in law Nancy Bolhouse, Kathy and Craig Michaels, and Betsy and Ken Raby along with several nieces and nephews and many friends. Ed was a great storyteller and a talented lather. He was a professional engineer, member of Grand River Woodturners Guild and Central Christian Church, and a regular attendee at Cascade Christian Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Cascade Christian Church. Visitation will be Friday, July 17, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Ofield Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
