July 20, 2014 Edward J. Phillips, age 94, of Grand Rapids, passed away July 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Fern, in 2013. Surviving are his children Bob and Lynnanne Phillips, Marcia and James Harrison; grandchildren Vandi and Donald Patterson, Nikki and Chad Reed, Erica Phillips; great-grandchildren Gabe Patterson, Casey and Harrison Reed. Ed was head of the design lab at Kelvinator, where he worked for 38 years. He was a WWII veteran in the 399th Infantry Regiment of the Army serving in Germany, Belgium, and France. He was also awarded a bronze star. Private military services were held by the family. Interment was in Rest Lawn Cemetery.
