Obituary

Eddie Lee Sarkozi, known to many as Ed, passed away on September 23, 2026 at the age of 93. He was born on January 03, 1933 in Albee Township, Michigan, and lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, faith, and a deep love for those around him.

Ed was a man whose presence was felt by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered most for his kind heart, his quick wit, and the thoughtful way he carried himself in everyday life. He had a warm sense of humor that could brighten a room, and he had a steady, dependable nature that made others feel at ease in his company. Those closest to him knew him as someone who cared deeply, gave generously of himself, and met life with both strength and compassion.

A proud United States Air Force veteran, Ed served his country honorably for four years and was discharged with above honors status. His service reflected the discipline, commitment, and sense of duty that he carried throughout his life. He believed in doing things the right way and in taking pride in honest work, values that remained with him long after his military service ended.

Following his time in the Air Force, Ed built a respected career as the small business owner of Sarkozi Equipment/Hollymatic. Through his work, he earned the trust of many and became known for his perseverance and dedication. He understood the value of hard work and took great pride in what he built. His business was not just a livelihood, but a reflection of his character and determination. He approached each day with the same steady resolve that defined so much of his life.

Ed was also a man of faith and lived as a Christian. His beliefs were an important part of who he was and guided the way he treated others. He met life with a spirit of humility and gratitude, and those qualities were evident in the way he loved his family and cared for the world around him.

In his personal life, Ed found joy in simple but meaningful things. He enjoyed working on cars, a pastime that reflected both his patience and his hands-on nature. He also took great care in feeding the dogs, cats, and wildlife at McKenzies Animal Sanctuary. His kindness extended beyond people to the animals he watched over, and this small but heartfelt act spoke volumes about the kind of man he was. He found purpose in caring for others, whether they walked on two legs or four.

Ed is survived by Jim and Fred Sarkozi; Cheriann Sassan; Cassie and Mark Brough; Michael Brough; Heather, Josh, Liliana, and Thomas Higgins; Jennifer, Josh Brough; Shanda Maino, Robert (Bob) Bucko ; Marisa Maino; and Nicole Maino. He cherished the bonds he shared with his family and found great meaning in those relationships throughout his life. The love and connection he shared with them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sarkozi and Elizabeth Muchochuk, as well as his four brothers and two sisters. Their memory remained important to him, and they are now reunited in eternal rest.

Ed’s life was one of devotion, resilience, and quiet generosity. He will be remembered for the way he made others laugh, the care he showed in both large and small ways, and the steady example he set through his work and conduct. His kindness touched many, his humor brought comfort and joy, and his thoughtful nature left a lasting impression on those who knew him best.

Though his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, the memory of Ed’s life will continue to bring comfort to those who loved him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, the work he accomplished, and the many moments of kindness and laughter he shared along the way. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
