Duane C. Schield of Lowell, Michigan, formerly of Merrill, Wisconsin, passed away on April 17, 2021, at age 84. He was born to Clarence and Revelda Schield on February 1, 1937, in Merrill, Wisconsin.

Duane was a man who walked tall, though bent with age, and beloved by so many who saw his fine qualities. His greatest love was for his God, Jehovah, and for Jesus Christ, our King. His love extended to his wife and family, as well as to his congregation. Another love was his love of music and playing his accordion. He set a wonderful example of loyalty and was a loving shepherd as part of the congregation elder body. Duane was known for his love of laughter, which could make somber occasions lighter. May all of us follow his example of faith, until reunited under the Kingdom rule.

2 Peter 3:13 says, "But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these, righteousness is to dwell." NWT

Duane is survived by his wife of 27 years, Yvonne H. Schield. Also surviving are his stepchildren Melody Cooke (David), Stephanie Hutchinson (Harry), Melissa Taft, Yvonne Gray (Marty), and Guy Purdum (Josie); grandchildren Abigail Howe (Ian), Abram Taft, Emily Taft, Brennan Taft, Vonnie Fongers (Bart), Elijah Gray (JoJo), and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Raymor and Ailey Fongers.

There will be a memorial service (Zoom) for Duane on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 2 PM Eastern time.
