IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Duane
Hill
January 4, 1970 – July 17, 2024
Duane Michael Hill, was a man who lived his life much like he rode his beloved motorcycles: with a sense of adventure, a touch of the throttle, and a hearty laugh in the face of the wind. Born on January 4, 1970, in the town of Muskegon, Duane's journey through life's winding roads came to a peaceful end on July 17, 2024, in Grand Rapids, after a valiant battle with an illness only as stubborn as he was.
For 30 years, he was not just an employee at Gentex but a figure who could find humor in the mundane. His colleagues weren't just co-workers; they were family to him. Family was the cornerstone of Duane's world. His wife, Mellisa, was the love of his life, the straight man to his jokes, and the one who could make him smile with just a glance. Together, they raised a trio of joyous rebels: Carman, Zoe, and Delilah. Each inherited a slice of Duane's wit and his boundless capacity for love. His grandchild, Hope, became the new target for his playful teasing, ensuring the laughter would echo through generations. Duane's siblings, Mark and Matt, shared in the raucous fun that was growing up with him, while his late sister, Melissa, no doubt prepared the stage for Duane's grand entrance in the hereafter. His parents, Diana and Gary, provided the script for his life, instilling in him the values of love, generosity.
Hunting, camping, and tearing up the trails on his ATV were among Duane's favorite pastimes. He believed that nature was the ultimate place to be. He was the king of the outdoors, ruling over his domain with a marshmallow-tipped scepter. As the final curtain falls on Duane's remarkable act, we bid farewell to a man who taught us that laughter is the best medicine, even when faced with the toughest of times. While the stage of life may be a little dimmer without Duane's comedic spark, the echoes of his laughter will resonate forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
Ride on, Duane, through the eternal trails of joy and into the embrace of the great campsite in the sky.
