IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas Lee
Dunn
April 13, 1968 – October 23, 2021
Douglas Lee Dunn, age 53, of Belmont, Michigan formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan went to be with the Lord on October 23rd, 2021. He was born to William and Margaret Dunn on April 13th, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Blodgett Hospital.
Doug was the middle sibling of three children with Scott being the oldest and Derek being the youngest. He was a graduate of Northview High School in 1986 where he enjoyed sports, particularly football with his lifetime friends.
Doug was married to Autumn (Smith) on September 1st, 2009 at the little chapel in Hell, Michigan with family by their sides. They were together a total of 16 years with a blended family including two daughters, Kaitlyn and Ashleigh.
Of all the things Doug was fondest, it was spending time with his family and friends. It didn't matter if it was doing something or nothing at all. He loved to go see the Red Wings play in Detroit and also watched every game at home. Driving around in his hot-rod Dodge Charger always put a big smile on his face, especially when other drivers wanted to race him. He never did it according to him but we don't know if we believe that story. Doug was always good for a wild story of the things he and his friends did in high school and after. He also liked to reminisce about the races he went to at MIS and all the good times he had with his friends there. Of the years with Autumn and Ashleigh as family, he was a very proud father watching Ashleigh join the Air Force and it was a frequent subject of his growing tattoo collection. If you didn't know how he felt politically, you didn't know Doug very well. This was a subject that would get him going and fired up for hours. Ask pretty much anyone.
Most of all, Doug loved helping others no matter what they needed. Even after passing he saved two lives by being an organ donor and helped countless people with the donation of his surplus of insulin to a local charity. People remember him for acts like this. One of his favorite things to do was the Angel Tree at Christmas time.
Doug is survived by his loving wife Autumn (Smith), daughters Kaitlyn Dunn and Ashleigh Dunn, mother Margaret Dunn, brother Scott (Heather) Dunn, brother Derek (Jennifer) Dunn, nephew Michael Dunn and niece Alyssa Dunn.
He was preceded in death by his father William Dunn in 2017.
The family would like to thank Mercy Health St. Mary's Hospital, Blodgett Select Hospital and the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Spectrum Hospital for their care and compassion during Doug's illness.
Per Doug's wishes there will be no memorial or funeral. His ashes will go home to his family as he requested.
