He was preceded in death by his loving long-time partner of 20 years, Deb Parkins, parents Dorothy and Raymond Culp, sisters Sharon Woofter and Evelyn Beye. He is survived by his ex-wife of 35 years, Carol Culp, his siblings Kenneth (Rosemary) Culp, Carolyn (John) Keyser, Patricia (Tim) Newburn and four children Michael (Dorene) Culp, Shane (Kristen) Culp, Ashley Culp and Kaylyn Culp. Doug has 7 grandchildren: Amanda (Steve) Bursley, Tyler Culp, Jordan (Karly) Culp, Jaren Culp, Jayce Culp, Arianna Culp and Grace Myers, and 2 great-grandchildren, Ben and Evan Bursley.
He was also loved by Deb's family and his best friend of 40+ years, Denny (Jonna) Prindle. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Doug worked at GM, Irwin Seating and then as the maintenance person for S & S Properties for 20 years where the tenants and staff loved him and he continued to work part-time before being diagnosed with cancer in early 2020. Doug enjoyed fishing, bowling, cooking, and spending time with his friends and grandchildren/great grandchildren. He and Deb also enjoyed relaxing in a cottage in Paradise, MI in the Upper Peninsula where they went every year for vacation and spent time with their friends Denny and Jonna. He loved to visit and explore the U.P. regularly where he used to take his kids and later his grandkids to see lighthouses, the Soo Locks and especially the Oswald Bear Ranch.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family is grateful for the prayers, messages and support from so many close to Doug. A celebration of life will be held on a later date. In honor of Doug and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or The American Cancer Society. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/dougculp/guestbook.
