Dorothy Helen Otto, age 78 a lifelong resident of South Haven entered into eternal peace with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Dorothy was born July 9, 1939, the daughter of the late William and Irene Henry. Dorothy loved and cherished her family and friends and was especially proud of all her children and her loving husband, Lester. Dorothy was a member of the Kibbie Christian Reformed Church, the Red Hat Society, the Michigan Travel Club and the Retreads Motorcycle club. Dorothy enjoyed spending her winters in Brooksville, Florida at her home at the top of Snow Hill Road. She loved going to yard sales, had a great love of music and especially enjoyed her summer evenings gathering with her friends at the South Haven South beach. Dorothy worked for many years at Restwood Inn and South Haven Memorial Hospital and also volunteering at many church activities throughout the years. Dorothy was a caregiver and always put the needs of others before her own. Surviving is her husband of 61 years Lester Otto, 5 children: Dennis Otto, Steve (Kate) Otto, Mark (Sue) Otto, Doreen Bartholomew and Brenda (Rob) Victor, sisters in law Valda Henry and Nellie Radlof. Along with 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that she considered to be her own children. Preceding her in death are her sisters Adelaide Plochocki and Pat Michaud and Brothers Robert (Bob) and William Henry. In her final weeks she was greatly comforted by the staff of Hospice at Home, St Joseph, MI. Contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Kibbie Christian Reformed Church, Hospice at Home, St Joseph, MI or the Al -Van Humane Society. Visitation is Saturday August 19, 2017 at Kibbie Christian Reformed Church, 479 County Road 687, South Haven, MI from 10 am to noon with a memorial service immediately following visitation with Pastor Gerrit K. Haagsma officiating.
