Dorothy Beatrice (Seelye) Nystrom, formerly of Okemos, MI, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 18, 2023. She was born in McBain, MI, to Orval and Reo Seelye on December 10, 1932. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Edward "Eddie" Nystrom on September 16, 1950. Dorothy was a loving wife to Eddie for 63 years and a cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Dorothy earned her degree in nursing and worked as both a nurse and a teacher, sharing her gift of mercy as she cared for the needs of her patients and students. She was an active member of Okemos First Baptist Church for 50 years. Dorothy and Eddie once owned a farm in White Cloud solely for the benefit and enjoyment of family and friends. After retirement, Dorothy and Eddie spent their summers serving as missionaries with SEND International in Alaska ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of the Alaskan people.

Dorothy enjoyed the last 10 years of her life at Vista Springs in Wyoming, MI, where she made many cherished friends. Her family would like to thank the staff at Vista Springs and Emmanuel Hospice for their loving care of Dorothy.

Dorothy leaves behind her three children, Vickie (Craig) Foerch, Pamela (Robert) Mouw, and Allan Nystrom; along with ten grandchildren, Ryan (Janice) Foerch, Joel (Kaleen) Foerch, Chad (Erin) Foerch, Luke (Shannon) Foerch, Brandon (Karee) Mouw, Kristy (Mark) Haase, Kelly (Dave) Groves, Nathan (Jenny) Mouw,  Heather (Joe) Eifert, Joshua's wife Maria Nystrom; and thirty-one great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Doug (Joyce) Seelye and Cal (Bev) Seelye. Awaiting her arrival in heaven were her parents, husband, grandson Josh Nystrom and sisters Violet Evans, Juanita VanderVlught, and Patsy Fry.

Dorothy will best be remembered for her acts of service to God, her family and others. Her legacy of love will inspire many for generations to come.

Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life for Dorothy on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1200 28th Street SE (Entrance C off east parking lot), Grand Rapids, MI. The celebration will be followed by a dessert fellowship at the church.
