Dorothy Rosalyn (Hilaski) Dever, age 87, passed away on March 23, 2026, in Dorr, Michigan. Born on March 21, 1939, Dorothy lived a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family and friends.
Dorothy was a woman of unwavering faith and a devoted member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She was often described as a “caring, loving angel on earth,” whose kindness and compassion touched everyone she met.
Family was at the heart of Dorothy’s life. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Mick Dever; Dan (Sue) Dever; Randy Terrell; Dawn Vogt; and Michelle (Rod) Cooper. She is also survived by her brother, Leon (Cheryl) Hilaski; sisters-in-law Janice Hilaski, Connie (Dave) Hupp, and Mary Dever; as well as twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Dorothy cherished every moment spent with her family and took immense pride in being a grandmother. Her love for them was boundless, and she found great joy in creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, James Dever Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Dever Jr.; her daughter, Darlene Terrell; her son-in-law, Steve Vogt; her parents, Ray and Edna Hilaski; her siblings, Robert Hilaski, David Hilaski, and Norma (Bill) Schaendorf; and several cherished in-laws: James Dever Sr., Gladys Dever, Bill Dever, Robert (Carol) Dever, and Rose (Leroy) Hancock.
Dorothy had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful spirit. She often did silly things that brought laughter and joy to those around her. Her warmth and light touched everyone she met. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
A visitation will be held on April 23, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Stanislaus Hall, 1861 136th Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with a funeral luncheon immediately afterward.
